The UK is grappling with a significant cyber security talent deficit across basic, intermediate, and advanced skills. This gap leaves businesses and critical infrastructure vulnerable to cyber threats.
Nearly half of all UK businesses are actively recruiting for roles requiring data skills including analysts, data scientists, and engineers. There are an estimated 178,000–234,000 vacancies nationwide according to Gov UK.
With a 50% rise in serious incidents this year, with four nationally significant attacks every week. That’s not hype; it’s the new normal. For businesses, cyber risk now sits alongside inflation and geopolitics as a top board concern.
With the slow influx of new, skilled talent and evolving technology needs, network professionals are in high demand across the UK. Particularly in communications infrastructure and network security.
According to Forbes a striking 93% of UK businesses report there is an IT skills gap in the jobs market with 81% of businesses reporting difficulties in filling IT roles. Start your IT career.
51% of UK employers consider hiring talent with AI skills a priority but 71% of those say they can’t find the talent they need. Get these in-demand skills and help close the skills shortage in the UK.
Project management is one of the largest professional job categories in the UK, with average advertised salaries of £54,780, over 41% above the national average. Plan, deliver and lead projects from start to finish.

Built with employers, for employers. Our programmes are designed around real job roles and current UK hiring needs – combining live labs, capstone projects, and industry-recognised certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, Forescout and more). You’ll learn the tools, workflows and standards teams actually use, coached by practitioners who’ve been there and done it.
From day one you’ll follow a clear pathway into roles like Cyber Analyst, Data Analyst, Ethical Hacker, Network Engineer, AI Engineer or IT Helpdesk. Expect hands-on training, real-world project work, expert career support (CV, interview prep), and a job-ready skillset that lets you add value from your first week on the job.
We’re proud to see our learners progress into roles with recognised organisations including the NHS, Ocado, Octopus Energy, Fujitsu, BT, Sky, Barclays, HSBC, Capgemini, HMRC, Darktrace, Quorum Cyber and more.

Quayem joined the programme with a clear ambition to move into a data-focused career, building on his existing technical background in SQL and Power BI. However, despite his skills and previous experience, he had spent almost two years struggling to secure consistent interviews and break into a highly competitive data job market.
He joined the programme to strengthen his technical profile, gain recognised certifications, and improve his job applications.
Despite a strong technical foundation in tools such as SQL and Power BI, Quayem faced several barriers when applying for data roles:
He also highlighted how competitive the entry-level market had become, making it difficult to stand out without additional structured support and recognised credentials.
Quayem completed structured training across key data tools and methodologies, including SQL, Python, Power BI, and data analysis fundamentals via DataCamp and supported learning platforms.
He achieved the following certifications, passing all first time, Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) and CompTIA Data+
Alongside this, he completed multiple hands-on projects in data visualisation and exploratory analysis across real-world datasets, strengthening both his technical ability and portfolio.
Following completion of his training, he then moved into the recruitment support phase, which included:
Quayem highlighted the CV restructuring process as the most impactful element, particularly the focus on key achievements and how experience was reframed for industry expectations.
Following structured support, Quayem secured a role as a Compliance Caseworker at HMRC, with the offer confirmed on 12 May 2026.
This marks a successful transition into a structured professional environment, where he now applies analytical thinking, data handling, and compliance-based decision-making in his role.
Quayem's Feedback
“Honestly, the CV rebuild was the biggest game changer for me. It was the first time I properly understood how to structure my experience around key achievements instead of just listing what I had done. Doing the certifications and projects gave me real proof of my skills. Before that, I could say I knew SQL or Power BI, but now I actually had something to back it up, which made a huge difference in interviews. The support really helped me become more focused and confident when applying for roles and explaining my experience. It changed how I approach the job market completely.”

“The CV rebuild and interview preparation made a big difference — I felt much more confident going into interviews and how I approached applications.”
Hal graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in Natural Sciences and a strong interest in data, coding, and problem solving. While he had solid academic knowledge and a successful placement year in a computational science role, he found it difficult to translate this experience into job opportunities in data analytics.
He joined the programme in June 2025 looking for support to become job-ready for entry-level data roles.
Despite strong technical ability, Hal was struggling to:
Hal first completed structured training in Python, SQL, Power BI, and machine learning, and passed all certifications on his first attempt.
He also completed practical data projects during his training to strengthen applied skills and portfolio experience.
Following completion of his training, we then moved into the recruitment support phase, which included:

Chris joined Newto Training in April 2025 with a background in logistics, warehouse operations and technical support. He wanted to build his cybersecurity knowledge and move into a role where he could combine his technical and operational experience with his new cybersecurity skills.
Despite building his cybersecurity knowledge, Chris was struggling to:
Chris completed the cybersecurity programme, gaining practical skills across security monitoring, Splunk, OWASP Top 10, MITRE ATT&CK, CVSS, Microsoft Azure and VirtualBox. He also achieved CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+ and Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), passing all of his exams first time.
During the recruitment phase, we provided full CV support, LinkedIn guidance, job search strategies and elevator pitch development. His CV was rebuilt to better showcase his technical and transferable experience. Chris also received guidance on how to approach his job search more effectively, rather than relying solely on job boards and recruitment agencies.
After uploading his new CV to CV-Library, Chris was approached by a recruiter about the opportunity with Winthrop.
Chris secured a Logistics & Cybersecurity Coordinator role at Winthrop, on a £45,000 salary, with his start date brought forward to 28 September 2026.
The role allows Chris to combine his logistics and operational experience with the cybersecurity knowledge and technical skills he developed through the Newto programme, joining Winthrop as it launches its first UK site.
Chris's Feedback
“I came into this training with no IT experience at all, to which I've landed a position because of the training and recruitment push. It doesn't feel like just training at all, and the support is unmatched. Newto gives it a personal touch which has helped me a lot and also pointed me in the right direction. I do believe that I wouldn't have landed this role if I hadn't had the support from the CV area. I had no knowledge of how to write a CV which makes it look appealing to employers, so that was a massive help.”
