Background

Daniel is a confident and approachable professional with a strong work ethic and a clear passion for learning and technology. Alongside his hands-on technical experience in live operational environments, he developed a strong interest in cybersecurity through problem-solving, fast-paced technical work, and continuous upskilling.

He is a fast learner who works well independently and as part of a team, with a strong ability to adapt to new challenges and responsibilities.

Daniel joined the programme in January 2024 looking to transition into a cybersecurity-focused role.

The Challenge

Despite strong practical and technical ability, Daniel was struggling to:

  • Translate his existing technical experience into a clear cybersecurity career pathway
  • Secure interviews for entry-level cyber roles
  • Position his certifications and training in a way that matched industry expectations

The Solution

Daniel first completed structured cybersecurity training, building technical capability across core cyber domains including security fundamentals, incident response, and network security.

He also completed multiple industry certifications, including CompTIA A+, Security+, and CySA+, strengthening his understanding of core cybersecurity principles, incident response, and threat analysis.

Following completion of his training, we then moved into the recruitment support phase, which included:

  • A full CV rebuild focused on cybersecurity and SOC-aligned roles
  • Structured job search guidance targeting entry-level cyber opportunities
  • Elevator pitch development to clearly communicate his technical experience and career transition
  • Interview preparation focused on technical scenarios and problem-solving

The Results

  • Daniel secured a role in cybersecurity as a Junior Cyber Security Analyst at Wessex Internet, starting on 01 April 2026.
  • He successfully transitioned into a junior cyber security position, where he now applies his technical, analytical, and operational experience in a security-focused environment.
