Course Overview

Project management is one of the most accessible well paid careers in the UK for someone changing direction, because it rewards organisation, judgement and communication more than it rewards a technical background. What it does demand is proof. Employers hiring a project manager need to see that you know the method, the vocabulary, and the tools before they will hand you a budget and a team.

Our Project Manager career programme is built to give you that proof. Over eight modules you will earn four recognised certifications, learn the two ways UK projects actually get delivered, and build the practical tool skills that appear in almost every project manager job description. You will be taught live by an instructor rather than left alone with a video library, and when your training is complete our recruitment team takes over and works with you until you are placed.

The programme is designed for people with no project management background at all. If you have ever run an event, coordinated a team, managed a budget or kept a complicated thing on schedule, you already have the instincts. This programme gives them a name that employers recognise.

Built for Your Success

Courses Included

Eight modules. Four certifications. Delivered in the order below, because each one builds on the last.

Microsoft Excel

1. Excel with AI

Live instructor led

Practical Excel skills for modern project professionals. Developed by Newto Training.

Covers spreadsheet skills as a project professional actually uses them, including structuring data properly, formulas, lookups, pivot tables, charts and trackers – and then layers on how AI tools inside and alongside Excel change that work.

Modern Excel can draft formulas from a plain-English description, explain an inherited formula someone else built, summarise a dataset, spot trends and outliers, and build charts and pivot tables from a prompt.

PL-300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst

2. PL-300: Microsoft Power BI

Live instructor led. Includes the official Microsoft exam.

Every project manager is asked the same question by a steering group: where are we, and how do you know?

PL-300 teaches you to answer it with data rather than opinion. You will learn to pull information from different sources, clean and model it, and turn it into dashboards and reports that senior stakeholders can read at a glance.

The module covers preparing data, modelling it, visualising and analysing it, and managing and securing what you publish. For a project manager this is what turns a status report from a list of assertions into something defensible. It is also the certification that most clearly separates you from other candidates at interview, because very few entry level project managers arrive able to build their own reporting.

Prince2 Foundation

3. PRINCE2 Foundation

Live instructor led. Includes the official PeopleCert exam.

PRINCE2 is the UK project management standard across major industries. Foundation teaches you the language.

You will cover the seven principles, seven practices — business case, organising, quality, plans, risk, issues and progress — and seven processes from start-up to proper closure. You will also learn what each management product is for and who is accountable for what.

There are no prerequisites. This is the genuine open door into the profession, and the point at which your existing experience acquires a vocabulary that recruiters recognise.

4. Microsoft Project

Live instructor led

Knowing the method is one thing. Building the schedule is another, and it is what you will be asked to demonstrate in an interview for a waterfall delivery role.

This module takes you through the Microsoft Project environment and then into real scheduling: task durations, milestones, manual and automatic scheduling, task relationships and dependencies, and identifying the critical path. You will move on to managing resources, resolving over allocation, resource levelling, part time resource calendars and overtime, and then into costs, covering variable costs, per usage and fixed costs, and changing rates part way through a project.

By the end you can take a set of requirements and produce a defensible plan with a critical path, a resourced timeline and a cost profile. That is the single most requested practical skill in UK waterfall project manager job adverts.

5. Risk Management

Self paced e-learning

Risk is the part of the job that separates a project manager who is trusted from one who is merely tolerated.

This module covers what risk actually is, how to describe it properly, why risk management fails, the common barriers to doing it well, and where corporate governance and internal control fit in.

You will then work through risk management principles and their outcomes, and finally the practical documents: the risk management policy and process guide, risk strategy, issue register, risk improvement plan, risk communications plan, risk response plan and risk progress reports, and how all of them relate to each other.

This module sits deliberately alongside the PRINCE2 risk practice. PRINCE2 tells you that risk must be managed. This module shows you how it is done in a real organisation.

6. Change Management

Self paced e-learning

Most projects do not fail on the schedule. They fail because people will not adopt what the project delivered.

This module is about the human side of delivery, which is the side almost no entry level project manager has been trained in.

You will cover the change process and its impact, including the learning dip and the cycle of competence, and then four approaches to change: behavioural, cognitive, psychodynamic including the change curve, and humanistic, taking in Herzberg and Maslow along the way. From there you move into personality and change, covering Lewin’s three step model, communication during change, Tuckman’s stages of team development and Belbin team roles, and then into organisational culture, Morgan’s organisational metaphors and how culture shapes which change approach will work.

The final section covers leaders and managers, leadership styles including Goleman’s, transformational versus transactional leadership, dispersed leadership, and how to sustain change once the project team has moved on.

Prince2 Practitioner

7. PRINCE2 Practitioner

Live instructor led. Includes the official PeopleCert exam.

Practitioner proves you can run a project, not just support one. It is the qualification that helps a CV move from project support to full project manager roles.

You will learn to tailor PRINCE2 to a project’s size, risk and complexity, select the right management products, manage change control and tolerances, and use a live business case to make genuine go/no-go decisions.

This is the step in the programme that moves you from supporting projects to being accountable for one.

PRINCE2 Practitioner certification

PRINCE2 Agile Foundation

8. PRINCE2 Agile Foundation

Self paced e-learning. Includes the official PeopleCert exam.

Roughly half of UK project work is now delivered in some agile or hybrid form, and interviewers will ask which you have worked in.

This module makes sure the answer is both. You will cover the agile mindset and how to blend agile ways of working with PRINCE2 governance, which is what hybrid delivery actually looks like in a large UK organisation. It also covers agile roles and duties, stakeholder engagement, agile leadership basics, risk and change control in fast moving environments, progress tracking with agile appropriate metrics, value driven thinking and how agile is scaled across an organisation.

This module is deliberately last. Once you understand structured delivery properly, agile stops looking like a different religion and starts looking like a set of tools you can choose from. That is exactly how experienced project managers talk about it, and it is how you want to sound in an interview.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any experience to start this programme?

No. The programme is designed for complete beginners and there are no formal entry requirements. PRINCE2 Foundation, which is where the programme starts, has no prerequisites of any kind.

How long does the programme take?

Most learners complete the programme in six to eight months, studying alongside full time work. Some finish faster and some take longer, and the pace is yours to set. Live classes run in the evening and are recorded, and the self paced modules can be taken whenever suits you.

How does the PRINCE2 Foundation exam work?

The PRINCE2 7 Foundation exam is 60 multiple choice questions to be completed in 60 minutes. There are no prerequisites. It is closed book. The exam is taken online with a PeopleCert remote proctor, and the certification is valid for three years.

How does the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam work?

The PRINCE2 7 Practitioner exam consists of 56 questions and sub questions worth 70 marks, using objective testing rather than straight multiple choice. You have 150 minutes. It is open book, but only the official PRINCE2 7 manual is permitted. The pass mark is 60%. Questions are based on a project scenario, so you are being tested on applying the method rather than reciting it.

How does the PRINCE2 Agile Foundation exam work?

The PRINCE2 Agile Foundation Version 2 exam is 40 multiple choice questions in 60 minutes, closed book, with a pass mark of 60%. There are no prerequisites. The certification is valid for three years.

How does the PL-300 exam work?

PL-300 is the Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst exam. The exam covers preparing data, modelling data, visualising and analysing data, and managing and securing Power BI assets. On passing you become a Microsoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst Associate. The certification is valid for twelve months and can be renewed free of charge by passing a short online assessment on Microsoft Learn.

What happens if I fail an exam?

Our first time pass rate is 96%, because you are taught live and prepared with practice papers and exam preparation sessions. If you do not pass the first time, you get one free exam resit included.

What is waterfall?

Waterfall is a way of delivering a project in fixed phases that run in strict order: define, design, build, test, deliver. Each phase is completed and signed off before the next one begins.

Waterfall suits projects where the requirements are known up front and where changing course later is expensive: construction, infrastructure, regulated financial services, government programmes. Its strength is predictability. You know at the outset what you are building, what it costs and when it lands. Its weakness is that it copes badly with requirements that change once work is under way.

PRINCE2’s stage by stage structure, with the project board authorising each stage before work begins, sits naturally on top of waterfall delivery, which is why the two are so often found together in UK organisations.

What is agile?

Agile is a way of delivering work in short repeated cycles, building something usable, showing it to the people who will use it, taking their feedback and adjusting. Rather than fixing the requirements at the start and holding them steady, agile fixes the time and the budget and allows what gets delivered to flex.

Agile suits work where the requirements are genuinely uncertain, where user feedback should shape the outcome, and where delivering something imperfect early is more valuable than delivering something complete late. Software and digital product work are the obvious examples. Its strength is responsiveness. Its weakness is that it can be harder to give stakeholders a firm answer about exactly what they will get and when.

What does the programme cost, and can I pay monthly?

The programme is £3,795 including VAT, and that includes all four exam vouchers. There are no additional costs.

Finance is available over terms of up to 60 months, so the cost can be spread rather than paid up front.

How does the job guarantee work?

Once your training is complete you move into our recruitment support process. You send your CV to our recruitment team, receive a review and a feedback call, and then have a further call to discuss your career goals and how we will target our network of partners. We then put your CV in front of that network. When an interview is arranged, our lead recruiter takes you through interview preparation beforehand.

We guarantee we will find you a job in the industry within six months from that point, or we will refund your course fee.

You can also build a free CV builder profile to get started straight away.

Can I keep working while I study?

Yes. The programme is specifically designed for people in full time work. Live classes run in the evening and are all recorded, course materials are available around the clock, and three of the eight modules are self paced so you can fit them around your current commitments. Most of our learners study alongside full time employment.
