Background

Stephan has a strong background in geopolitical intelligence, OSINT-based risk analysis, and cross-functional security coordination, with experience delivering risk insights that supported operational and strategic decision-making in complex global environments. Alongside this, he developed a strong interest in cybersecurity through structured training and hands-on technical work focused on vulnerability assessment, incident response, and emerging cyber and AI-driven threats.

He brings a strong analytical mindset, combining global risk awareness with developing technical cybersecurity capability, and is fluent in English and German.

He joined the programme in October 2024 looking to transition into a cybersecurity role.

The Challenge

Despite strong analytical and intelligence experience, Stephan was struggling to:

  • Translate OSINT and geopolitical risk experience into a clear cybersecurity and advisory career pathway
  • Secure interviews aligned with cyber advisory, threat intelligence, or security consulting roles
  • Position his hybrid risk, intelligence, and technical skills effectively within the cyber market

The Solution

Stephan first completed structured cybersecurity training, building technical capability across core cyber domains including vulnerability assessment, SIEM monitoring, incident response, and emerging cyber and AI-driven threats.

He also completed industry certifications including CompTIA Security+ and CySA+, alongside hands-on development using tools such as Splunk, Wazuh, TryHackMe, and Hack The Box.

Following completion of his training, we then moved into the recruitment support phase, which included:

  • A full CV rebuild focused on translating OSINT and risk intelligence experience into cybersecurity roles
  • Structured job search guidance targeting cyber advisory, consulting, and threat intelligence opportunities
  • Elevator pitch development to clearly communicate his hybrid risk + cybersecurity profile
  • Interview preparation focused on technical discussion, scenario-based reasoning, and advisory-style questioning

The Results

  • Stephan secured a role at Control Risks as an Associate Consultant in Cyber Advisory, starting on 01 April 2026.
  • He successfully transitioned into a cyber advisory role where he now applies OSINT, risk intelligence, and developing cybersecurity knowledge within a consulting environment.
