Background
Jonathan has a broad background spanning operations, marketing, and account management across multiple industries, where he developed strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. After several years in business-focused roles, he made the decision to transition into cybersecurity, driven by a growing interest in threat analysis, network security, and incident response.
He began retraining in 2025 with the goal of moving into a technical, security-focused role and building a long-term career in cyber security.

The Challenge
Despite extensive professional experience, he needed support to:
- Transition into a completely new technical field (cybersecurity)
- Build recognised industry certifications to demonstrate credibility
- Translate operational and leadership experience into a cyber security-focused CV
- Gain confidence applying for entry-level cyber roles

The Solution
Jonathan first completed a structured cybersecurity training pathway, building technical capability across core cyber domains including security fundamentals, incident response, and network security.
He also completed multiple industry certifications, including CompTIA Security+, CySA+, and Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, alongside ongoing study towards CEH v13, PenTest+, Network+, and A+.
He passed all completed exams first time, demonstrating consistency, discipline, and the ability to perform within structured technical training.
Following completion of his training, we then moved into the recruitment support phase, which included:
- A full CV rebuild focused on repositioning operational and leadership experience for cybersecurity roles
- Structured job search guidance targeting SOC and entry-level security analyst positions
- Elevator pitch development to clearly communicate his career transition into cyber security
- Interview preparation focused on technical scenarios and behavioural questioning

The Results
- Jonathan successfully secured a role as a Security Operations Analyst at Darktrace.
- He is now working within a SOC environment, applying his technical learning and operational experience in a live cybersecurity setting.
