The Training Foundation Certification Overview
Trainers are facing increasing pressure to demonstrate their value in today's demanding environment. This comprehensive five-day program will equip trainers with the knowledge and skills they need to deliver engaging, interactive, and effective training.
Course objective and assessment
The assessment is in two parts:
Part one: Participants will plan and deliver a training session that is evaluated against the TAP® Training delivery assessment guidelines.
Part two: After the course, participants will implement actions agreed with the trainer and have them signed off by their manager. This confirmation will be sent to QA.
QA will check the submission and once confirmed, we will release the TAP® Learning Digital Badge in recognition of successful course completion and application of new skills.
The course includes:
- Pre-course planning.
- Evening revision and preparation.
- Five sessions covering the TAP® training delivery methodology and its related criteria.
- Each participant will prepare and deliver a training session on a topic of their choice.
- Post-course development activities.

Prerequisites
For face-to-face courses, we recommend that participants bring a laptop with them if they have one. If not, we can make alternative arrangements.
Target Audience
This course is for trainers who are new to training or have been delivering training for under six months and wish to formalise their skills and knowledge with a recognised qualification. They do not need any previous qualifications in training. The course will help trainers who deliver virtually or face-to-face.

Session 3: Training Session Structure
- Get a session off to a good start

Session 4 Learning Objectives and Assessments
- Write a clear and concise learning objective which includes the three essential elements
- Ensure that the three elements support each other
- Assess whether learners have achieved the learning objective
Session 5: Questioning Techniques
- Encourage learner participation
- Use questions to help learners generate their own insights and to take responsibility for their learning
- Handle learners’ questions effectively
Exams and Assessments
This course includes a formal two-part assessment leading to the TAP® Learning Digital Badge.
- Part one: participants plan and deliver a training session, which is evaluated against the TAP® training delivery assessment guidelines
- Part two: after the course, participants implement agreed actions, which are signed off by their manager and submitted to QA for confirmation
Once QA has confirmed the post-course submission, the TAP® Learning Digital Badge is awarded in recognition of successful completion and application of new skills. The badge is valid for three years, after which QA recommends attending the TAP: Training Delivery Skills — Refresher to renew it.
